Cloth Diapers

Bryan and I decided when we had kids we would use cloth diapers. The process of actually picking which diapers to use took us a while. My brother and his wife used g-diapers with their first son. They liked them, but said they leaked. Our parents both used cloth diapers with us growing up (still have some, they make excellent dust rags). In our birth class, one of the expectant mothers had done a lot of research about cloth diapers. She brought in a basket of all kinds of diapers and did a show and tell with us(we have a road trip possibly planned to go to the Vancouver grand opening). We liked the Flips and Bumgenius diapers, both of which are made by Cotton Babies. We slowly started getting a stash ready for him. We waited patiently through his first few weeks of life and used newborn disposables while his belly button and circumcision we're healing, then we got to break out the cloth diapers. No more leaks!!! The disposables would leak at night, but the Bumgenius and Flips did not. We've been surprised to find out just how many friends are using cloth diapers or have decided to use cloth diapers since we've told them about our experience with them. We are so excited for the Cotton Babies store to open in Vancouver, WA. It's only a few hours away and we can visit it when we're visiting family. We'll still visit our more local store, which is Simple Cloth in Olympia. We love the people there. They've always been super helpful. Cloth diapers have become addictive to us, we even have our daycare provider enjoying them. We provide the diapers and the soap. She prefers the Flip. So he tends to wear the Flips and daycare and our supply of Bumgenius at home. We love that the new Bumgenius 4.0's come in a snap version. Can't wait for the new colors and prints to come out.

One of Gavin's favorite times is getting his diaper changed. We gets lots of smiles and he loves his daddy's diaper dance. Imagine the tune to tequila, with legs bouncing back in forth and "fresh diaper" said instead of tequila.
